A GHOST story with a difference can be seen at Leamington’s Loft Theatre.
The Exorcism was widely described as “The most frightening piece of TV drama ever shown” when it was first aired on television as a ‘live’ play in 1972.
It is Christmas Day and Edmund (Joshua Pink) and Rachel (Karen Brooks) have invited close friends Dan (Sean Glock) and Margaret (Ruth Herd) to their idyllic cottage for the festive period.
The mood is one of celebration as they enjoy a lavish feast, when suddenly there is a power cut. The party atmosphere changes rapidly as events become stranger and then frighteningly scary. Have they drunk too much? Are they hallucinating? Is the house haunted by something terrible from the past?
Director Darren Scott said: “While this is a ghost story in the traditional sense, we are not offering up any spectral bodies or clanking chains. That said, what we can promise our audience are an atmospheric couple of hours that will chill them even more than the cold winter’s evening outside”.
The Exorcism runs from Saturday January 17 to Saturday January 24.
After the performance on Monday January 19 there will be a question and answer session with the opportunity to discuss the play with the cast, crew and director.
