TROMBONIST Annie Whitehead and Interplay celebrate International Jazz Day with a performance at the Restaurant in the Park in Leamington’s Jephson Gardens on Sunday April 29.
Whitehead has been prominent on the jazz scene for many years, with her own groups, and with many other top names in the jazz field, including The Carla Bley Band, Charlie Watts Orchestra, Evan Parker, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Abdullah Ibrahim, and James Blood Ulmer.
Her versatilty has made her much in demand and she has also worked with Joan Armatrading, The Style Council, Elvis Costello, Jah Wobble, Blur, and Robert Wyatt, to name but a few.
Also sharing the stage will soul singer Letitia George, who appeared on tv talent show The Voice, making her jazz debut.
Bassist Adrian Litvinoff’s band Interplay features saxophonist and flautist Alan Wakeman, trombonist Richard Baker, with Neil Hunter on keyboards and Dave Balen on drums and percussion.
Tickets are £12.50 in advance (£15 on door), and the music starts at 7.30pm.
