A WORLD-renown violinist will be returning home to help celebrate the 200th birthday of the town’s Royal Pump Rooms.

Leamington-born Edward Dusinberre, accompanied by pianist Charles Owen, will be performing works by Brahms, Bach, Mendelssohn and Beethoven at the Pump Rooms on Sunday (June 1).

Edward has lived in the States since the early 1990s, first as a student and then as leader of the world famous Takacs String Quartet, which will be coming to Leamington in November.

Leamington Music Festival Director Richard Phillips said: “The concert is dedicated to Paul Russell, well known in the Leamington area as a brass instrument teacher and for many years as Musical Director of Royal Spa Brass.

“Edward Dusinberre was helped by Paul to go to the Juilliard School in New York and this concert will see the launch of a bursary to help young musicians from the Leamington area who need funds to continue their studies before they enter the profession.

“Edward is a role model for aspiring young musicians and is probably the most distinguished performer that Leamington has ever produced.”

Two days early the Pump Rooms will welcome Kinsky Piano Trio from Prague making their Leamington debut with a programme of trios by Czech composers next week.

They will perform works by Hummel, Fibich, Martinu and Dvorak at the Pump Rooms on Friday (May 30).

The Trio consists of Lucie Sedlakova Hulova on violin, her husband Martin Sedlak on cello and Slavka Vernerova Pechocova on piano. Slavka appeared at the 2009 BBC Proms playing in the Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra by Martinu with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Jiri Belohlavek.

Tickets for both concerts are available online from or by calling 01926 776438 or in person from the Visitors Information Centre at the Pump Rooms.
