Warwick Folk Festival once again promises the finest in roots music

WARWICK Folk Festival returns this summer with a heavyweight line-up featuring the finest in roots music.

The 39th annual festival will as usual welcome performers from around the world to Warwick School and the surrounding town from July 26 to 29.

Headline acts include Show of Hands and Jon Boden & Remnant Kings.

Multi-award-winning duo Show of Hands – Steve Knightley and Phil Beer – have five sell-out Royal Albert Hall shows under their belt, and at Warwick they will be joined on stage by special guest musician Geoff Lakeman, chieftain of the Lakeman tribe.

Jon Boden is best known as the lead singer of folk juggernaut Bellowhead, but now fronts The Remnant Kings, which features the talents of former Bellowhead band-mates Sam Sweney and Paul Sartin, plus Leveret’s Rob Harbron, together with Ben Nicholls and Richard Warren from King of The South Seas.

Also taking to the festival stage will be Korrontzi, Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys, Granny’s Attic, Vishten, Megson and Gnoss.

The festival will feature a full programme of acoustic performances and plugged-in gigs, ceilidhs, sing-a-rounds, dance, and workshops.

Festival director Dick Dixon said: “Established as one of the best folk festivals in the country, Warwick Folk Festival has something for everyone, with 15 venues on site plus varied stages in Warwick town.

“We have some fantastic headline acts plus another packed programme of concerts, ceilidhs, workshops, a craft & music fair and a wine and cocktail bar.”

Tickets cost £95 for the weekend and £110 for the four days. Early bird ticket sales close late on Sunday January 28, and tickets will go on sale the following day at the higher price.

Festival-goers can choose from Thursday to Sunday tickets, Friday to Sunday tickets, or day tickets. Under 14s are free.
