A 100-YEAR-old from Hampton Magna celebrated her milestone birthday by going back to school.

Vera Williams was invited along to Budbrooke Primary School’s assembly on Friday (October 27) where youngsters sang Happy Birthday and presented her with cards they had made.

The school is just down the road from where Vera lives and she loves to hear the children sing and play. And as a result, her daughter Christine approached the staff at Budbrook to see if they could arrange a treat for her mother’s birthday as she was sure it would really make her day.

The school were more than happy and invited Vera along to their morning assembly.

Vera was born on October 27 1923 in Andover, Hampshire.

Her Mum died when she was eight-years-old and the family of six children were all split up and put into various convents.

During the war Vera worked for the munitions services and was posted all over the country. She met her husband Len – who died 18 years ago – in Worcester.

Len was serving with the Royal Worcesters and subsequently was posted to Burma.

He was allowed back on special licence to marry Vera on September 8 1945. They lived in Birmingham until 35 years ago when they moved to Warwick.

Vera has four children and nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.
