95-year-old Leamington resident goes back to work

A 95-YEAR-old Leamington care home resident proved you’re never too old to go back to work.

Ted Proctor told staff at Priors House he was keen to revisit his old company, Procter and Chester Measurements LTD, and they were determined to make it happen.

Ted co-founded the business in 1983, along with his good friend and business partner, Brian Chester. On its 40th anniversary, Ted revisited the company he’d helped to create to see how things had changed.

On the day, Ted was welcomed by Brian’s son and current managing director Gordon Chester and given a tour of the site, as well as the opportunity to meet the current team.

Ted said: “I really enjoyed the day going back to where I had many happy years and I was so pleased to see my surname is still being used in the company name. The company has changed a lot since I was there, but for the better as it continues to expand and grow.

“My tip for being successful in business is to have ambition and aim high.”

The special visit was part of the home’s Wishing Tree Initiative, which encourages residents to put wishes forward, allowing them to reconnect with a past hobby or try something completely new.
