AN ADVENTUROUS summer of family events is being lined up by Heritage and Culture Warwickshire.
Young and old will be able to discover stone age skills, have fun at St John’s Playhouse, get crafty creating a Jurassic Sea Monster, go fossil hunting and much more.
Market Hall Museum in Warwick is also open Tuesday to Saturday and entry is free.
Museum in the Park is being held on Tuesday July 22 at St Nicholas Park in Leamington. There will be artefacts and fossils, the chance to make a paper plate ammonite and try out excavation.
People can explore life in the stone age at Market Hall Museum on Tuesday July 29 and Wednesday July 30. There will be the chance to discover the key stone age skill of flintknapping with demonstrations from ancient technology expert and archaeologist, James Dilley.
St John’s House is once again being transformed into a life-sized playhouse where youngsters can explore different themes throughout the house and garden. There will be crafts, messy play, story time, creative building, outdoor games and dressing up.
And artist Darrell Wakelam is inviting families to come and help create a large 3D Jurassic sea monster at Market Hall Museum on Tuesday August 12 and Wednesday August 13.
Working with different craft materials, budding artists can make their own contribution to the sculpture of a Jurassic plesiosaur, inspired by the fossils on display at the museum.
Warwickshire County Council’s customer spokesperson Coun Michael Bannister said: ‘Our Heritage and Culture summer events programme is packed with a variety of themed events. It’s especially exciting to have the return of a great family day out at the St John’s Playhouse. Lots of our events are free to join, so we hope to see you there.”
