AN ARTICULATED lorry driver was left trapped after a crash which saw the other driver leave the scene – despite having a broken ankle.

In the early hours of this morning (Friday) police were called to the A423 Oxford Road in Ryton after a smash between a Mercedes and a Royal Mail lorry.

The Mercedes driver left the scene and was arrested nearby after providing a positive breath test. He had also suffered a broken ankle.
