AN ARTS chief has been painting the town red.
Arts Council England’s chief executive Darren Henley was in Leamington on Tuesday (September 19) to visit local arts and cultural organisations.
First stop was a trip to Sydenham Primary School, on Calder Walk, who are part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Associate Schools Programme.
Alongside meeting teachers, children and the artistic team, Darren was treated to a live workshop.
The programme encourages schools to work in local partnerships to make Shakespeare’s work accessible to children and young people.
This was followed by a meeting, tour, and insights into the artistic activity of internationally acclaimed touring dance-circus company Motionhouse at their Creation Space in Leamington Town Hall.
And finally, Darren met with local civic leaders and enjoyed a tour of Spencer Yard, which is the first phase of Leamington Creative Quarter.
