THERE’S a battle of wills in Doubt: A Parable at Leamington’s Loft Theatre.
John Patrick Shanley’s acclaimed drama premiered on Broadway in 2005, winning the Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Awards, including Best Play.
Set in a 1960s Bronx convent school, the story follows a modernising priest whose conduct is called into question by the school’s formidable principal.
As their actions and motivations come under intense scrutiny and suspicion escalates, the pair are drawn into a gripping battle of wills with potentially irrevocable consequences.
Director Chris Gilbey-Smith said: “The brilliance of the play lies in the uncertainty – whether the accusation is true or not remains ambiguous, forcing us to confront how we deal with suspicion when the truth is out of reach.”
The production runs from February 25 to March 7.
