Big-hearted seven-year-old from Kineton saddles up to help his friend

A BIG-hearted seven-year-old from Kineton is saddling up to raise cash for his friend, who has a brain tumour.

Rohan Campion aims to cycle 25 miles to bank much-needed cash for five-year-old Taylan Kurtul and his family.

Taylan was taken to the doctor in May when his mum noticed he was losing his balance when walking or running and complaining of a headache.

He was rushed to hospital for further tests and a few days later it was confirmed Taylan had a cancerous brain tumour.

He endured a six hour operation to have the majority of the tumour removed but when he came round, it was evident he was suffering from Posterior Fossa Syndrome. This is a collection of side effects as a direct result from surgery on the back part of the brain.

It has left Taylan with vision issues, a weakened body on one side and he has lost the ability to speak.

Taylan faces nine months of intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy across various hospitals far from home including Manchester.

But his friend Rohan has been out on his bike notching up the miles with his family over the past few weeks in a bid to help Taylan out.

He will complete the final mile of his ride on Sunday (July 16), ending at Kineton Sports and Social Club.

Rohan aimed to bank just £250 in sponsorship but has already smashed that total, with £1,400 raised and counting.

To celebrate Rohan completing the ride there will also be a fun day organised by both boy’s families to bank even more cash.

Rohan’s mum Charlotte said: “I’m so proud of what a seven year-old boy can do, just by getting on his bike. It’s touched so many people’s hearts.”
