AN ABUNDANCE of dazzling blue butterflies are set to sparkle at Stratford Butterfly Farm this Christmas.
Known for their iridescent, shimmering wings, Blue Morphos will be flitting around the tourist hotspot in greater numbers than ever throughout the festive season.
The butterflies, which originate from the tropical forests of Latin America from Mexico to Colombia, are among the largest butterflies in the world, with wings spanning from 12 to 20cm.
They will be flying among the foliage of the butterfly farm’s tropical rainforest environment from mid-December through to the New Year.
Marketing manager Jane Kendrick said, “We’re delighted to have the stunning Blue Morpho reside at the Butterfly Farm this Christmas. Their brilliant electric-blue wings provide a magical backdrop for a festive family day out, offering a unique alternative to traditional Christmas activities.”
