Burglar jailed after jewellery theft from house in Warwick

A COVENTRY man has been jailed for three and a half years after he burgled a home in Warwick and attempted to burgle a home in Leamington.

Ryan Kean, aged 41, of Orton Road, was sentenced at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday (January 5) after being found guilty of burglary and attempted burglary.

The attempted burglary occurred in July 2020 when Kean used a garden fork to try to break into a house in Eaton Close, Leamington. He was disturbed by the occupant and fled empty handed.

The burglary occurred a month later, when Kean broke into a house in Myton Road, Warwick and stole a number of items including jewellery.

He was seen on CCTV climbing over the fence to the property before using a fork to force open a window and gain entry.

Forensic evidence left on the garden forks identified Kean as the suspect and he was subsequently arrested and charged.

Detective Constable Christopher Pitt from Leamington Proactive CID said: “Burglary is extremely traumatic for victims and leaves a lasting impact. I am pleased Kean is now behind bars.

“This sentence should reassure people of our commitment to tackling burglary and bringing offenders to justice.”
