Bus drivers rewarded for getting greener

Leamington Editorial 25th Jun, 2017   0

COMPETITION is fuelling Leamington bus drivers to be green.

Each year Stagecoach Midlands rewards the top performing ‘eco-friendly driver’ at each of their six depots with a £50 gift voucher.

The company uses an eco-driver monitoring system on the dash, which measures the effects of the driver’s performance on fuel consumption, carbon emissions and wear and tear on the vehicles.

This year, the award at has gone to Mariusz Plewnoik who beat rival and and two-time winner Dariusz Pawele at the Leamington depot.

Stagecoach Midlands Managing Director Steve Burd said “Sustainability is at the heart of our business and we are continuing to work hard to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. As a business, we have made good progress on our sustainability strategy over the past eight years. Attracting more people out of cars and on to our bus services is also helping reduce the overall carbon emissions from transport.”
