A BUSINESSMAN turned sailor has been making waves for charity.

Chris Evans competed in the Fastnet 600-nautical-mile challenge raising £6,175 for Leamington Hospital’s Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU).

The deputy managing director of engineering consultancy Rolton Group with his team, successfully navigated a yacht from the Isle of Wight, around the Fastnet rock off the Irish coast and the Scilly Isles before finishing in Plymouth, in four days and 13 hours.

CERU offers rehabilitation to adults who have suffered brain injuries – care which Rolton Group chairman Peter Rolton has witnessed first-hand after his son was treated in the unit following a car accident.

Chris said: “It was a privilege to present CERU with the cheque. The CERU team do such amazing work and it was uplifting to see their dedication to their patients, and how happy they were to see Jack looking so well.”
