CAMPAIGNERS are calling on Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright to support a People’s Vote on the Brexit deal.
Members of Warwick District 4 Europe, a local cross-party campaign group, were on the streets of Kenilworth asking constituents to urge Mr Wright to follow Warwick and Leamington Labour MP Matt Western’s stance in backing for such a vote.
Group chair Peter Corkill said, “We are delighted Matt Western agrees with us that we need a People’s Vote on the deal that Theresa May has negotiated.
“Access to the single market and frictionless trade are vital to the automotive industry and the local economy. It is clear politicians and members of the public from both sides of the debate have serious concerns about the deal that has been put forward. Surely Jeremy Wright can see why his constituents should have their say through a People’s Vote.”
Nine out of ten people who signed postcards in Kenilworth wanted a People’s Vote.
Representatives from Warwick District 4 Europe will be meeting with Mr Wright, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, at the end of the month to stress the views of Kenilworth residents gathered at street stalls and polls over the past few months.
