A CARE home nurse has been suspended after repeatedly neglecting to give patients medication.
David Diaz Hernandez was accused of failing to give patients their medication while he worked at Mockley Manor Care Home near Henley.
A panel at the Nursing and Midwife Council heard how Mr Hernandez admitted to not giving a patient tablets which controlled stomach acid on several occasions.
He was also supposed to give another resident at the nursing home six steroid tablets, but instead just gave her one. This happened every night he worked over a three week period in 2015.
Mr Hernandez admitted the consequences to the patient not receiving her steroids could have been serious and resulted in heart problems.
The nurse worked at the home for five months, during which time he received a written warning before he was dismissed.
Now the panel have suspended him from the profession for six months.
A spokesman said: “The panel decided Mr Hernandez’s actions did put a patient at unwarranted risk of harm.
“The panel decided his failings had brought the profession into disrepute and he had breached fundamental tenets of the profession. It concluded he was liable to do so again in the future.
“Based on the lack of insight, remorse and remediation from Mr Hernandez, the panel is of the view there is a risk of repetition of his actions.”
He will now face a six month suspension, at the end of which the order will be reviewed and either revoked or replaced with another.
