Cash stolen in suspected armed robbery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a suspected armed robbery.

A 33-year-old man was walking in an alleyway by the canal near Stanley Court in Sydenham when a man approached him and threatened him. It’s believed he was holding a blade.

The victim was not injured but cash was stolen in the incident which happened at around 7pm on Wednesday (June 17).

The man left the area on foot and is described as white, around 6ft, clean shaven with a spotty complexion and around 30-years-old. He was believed to be wearing a black tracksuit and a black baseball cap.

Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to call police on 101 or ring 0800 555 111 to speak to Crimestoppers anonymously.
