CATERING students at Leamington College are hosting a celebratory Coronation lunch and inviting those in need from the local community to join them.
The Coronation Big Lunch will take place on tomorrow (Wednesday) in the lead-up to the Bank Holiday weekend and will see the college’s supported learning catering students cook a hearty roast and homemade desert for elderly guests from a retirement village in the town.
Around 10 guests will attend the lunch at the college’s bistro, with the bistro also set for a Coronation themed makeover.
Lunches will also be served up at Rugby College and Pershore College – both part of WCG (Warwickshire College Group).
Angela Joyce, CEO of WCG, said: “Our colleges are at the heart of the communities in which they are located. On what will be a special week for the whole country it will be wonderful to welcome people from the community into our colleges for a Coronation celebration.
“Students at each of the three colleges have been involved in the planning and delivery of the lunches and afternoon teas, and are going above and beyond to create a truly memorable experience for guests.
“It will be an opportunity to show off the culinary skills they have developed at the college and gain great experience in how to cater for an event.”
