Charity ball raises £2,500 for town's most vulnerable

A CHARITY ball helped raise £2,500 for some of Leamington’s most vulnerable residents.

The annual Leamington Charity Ball was held at Victoria House in support of LWS Night Shelter and the Salvation Army’s Way Ahead Project.

More than 100 supporters enjoyed a night of dancing, tapas and wine and heard about the work both charities are doing in the town for those who are homeless or vulnerable.

Ball spokesman Graham Davis said: “We heard from charity representatives how their joint efforts are bringing hope and a sustainable future for those afflicted. A telling case is that of Colin, homeless and an addict for several years who sought food shelter and company from LWS Night Shelter. He was supported by the Salvation Army into emergency rehabilitation and detox with local council help, and is now nine months ‘clean’.”
