Chiltern Railways trials kids-only carriage

LAUGHTER and chatter replaced the usual clatter of keyboards and quiet conversation as the Chiltern Railways Kids’ Coach steamed into London’s Marylebone station on Tuesday (August 8).

The dedicated family-friendly carriage – complete with games, arts and crafts and on-board entertainers – is being trialled this week as part of a campaign to make trips to London extra-special from the minute families board the train.

Peter Williams from Chiltern Railways, said: “We wanted to provide a space where kids can be kids and families can enjoy spending time together.

“It’s the summer holidays and we want to hear the sounds of children laughing and having fun on our services.”

Chiltern Railways’ Kids’ Coach is available on a first-come, first-served basis on the 10.55 train from Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone on Wednesday 9, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 August.

The service will pick up passengers at Solihull, Warwick Parkway, Leamington Spa and Banbury.

If successful, the carriage may continue to be a feature on further trains this summer.
