MIRACULOUSLY no-one was hurt when a coach went up in flames on the M40.
Firefighters were called to the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between the Longbridge junction and the junction for Henley around 5pm on Tuesday (July 7).
Two crews from Leamington and a water carrier – a specialist unit which holds more then 5,000 litres of water – were sent to the scene and arrived to find the coach well alight.
And this burnt out shell is what was left of the coach after firefighters had spent two hours dealing with the blaze – the cause of which is not yet known.
The coach was carrying passengers but they were all safely evacuated before the fire, which is reported to have started underneath the coach, was able to spread.
The motorway was closed in both directions following the fire owing to high levels of smoke but reopened shortly after 7.45pm.
No-one else was injured.
