MORE than £15,500 was shared between charities and organisations in Leamington Town Council’s latest round of community grants.
Each financial year, the council awards grants of up to £2,000 to local groups to assist with specific projects. and 14 were chosen in the first round of the year.
Town mayor Coun Judith Clarke said: “The town council is committed to helping worthy causes and each year does so through our Community Grant Fund. This grant is open for community and voluntary groups delivering worthwhile projects which will benefit residents of Leamington. The deadline for the next funding round is Friday August 9 so go to our website, see if your organisation qualifies, and apply for the funding for your project.”
The grants for this round were given to a wide range of projects benefiting the local community including Sonrisa Arts CIC Dance in the Dark performance, Bounce Back – a breast cancer support group, A Band of Brothers to support their work in the Salvation Army Hall, Arts Uplift singing workshops for well-being at Brunswick Centre, Lillington Olympic Festival, New Chapters House preparations and SPLAT! – a children’s arts project spearheaded by staff from three Leamington schools.
