Community groups encouraged to apply for council funding

GROUPS and clubs in need of a cash boost are being encouraged to apply for funding from the council.

The Rural/Urban Capital Improvement Scheme is run by Warwick District Council and gives grants of anything from £1,000 up to £30,000 to not-for-profit community organisations.

More than £100,000 has been awarded to eight projects over the past year including Westbury Community Centre in Leamington where the money was used to provide much-needed fencing and floodlights for the outdoor sports facility.

Scheme manager John Dawson said: “The council is very pleased to be in a position to be able to award funding to assist not-for-profit organisations in Warwick district.

“This money can not only improve their facilities but also increase access for the community and we would encourage groups to come forward with projects as we may be able to help.”

Visit www.warwickdc.gov.uk or call John Dawson on 01926 456204 to apply.
