Crafters make do and mend at Leamington library

MAKE do and mend was the mantra at Leamington library to mark VE Day.

Budding crafters embraced the spirit of the home front by making flower brooches out of scraps of material.

Make do and mend is a British expression, originating from a government campaign during the Second World War, which encouraged people to repair and reuse their existing clothes due to shortages.

The session was part of Warwickshire Remembers, a project, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

Libraries across the county have been transformed into hubs of remembrance and celebration with activities including everything from craft sessions and afternoon teas to historical talks and reminiscence events.
