A NEW sustainability group is being launched in Cubbington.
Sustainabillington aims to champion eco-friendly activity locally and there will be a free event at Cubbington Village Hall on Saturday June 3 to kick off the project.
The group has been set up to reflect a growing wave of green awareness, with the increase in Green councillors in the recent local elections showing increasing public concern about climate change.
The launch event aims to give residents ideas for local action. The morning will include low carbon talks from a range of experts, as well as recycled hats, a roving Selfie Pledge board, the winners of a low carbon poetry competition, and a theatre sketch about a confused recycler called “Lord forgive me for I have binned.”
The event is being organised in partnership with Low Carbon Warwickshire Network and the Royal Society of the Arts.
Local poet and organiser Matt Black said: “Most people now are trying hard to live lower carbon lives, and we just want to make this easier – and more enjoyable – for our community. Our morning of talks will give people the chance to do things together, either quick and easy things or longer term, more ambitious projects.”
The launch event runs from 10am to 12,30pm. To book email [email protected] or phone 077656 84941.
