A LEAMINGTON man has been jailed after being found guilty of dangerous driving.

The incident happened on the afternoon of August 3, 2022, when PC Craig Stead from the Warwickshire Police Operations Patrol Unit was on patrol.

He was in a marked police car when he came up behind a vehicle being driven by Samir Abdulrahman in Lillington Road, Leamington.

On seeing the police behind him, Abdulrahman sped away from officers at speed, overtaking other cars and going through red lights.

The police pursuit ended when his car was brought to a stop by a police stinger on the A45 in Coventry.

After stopping the car officers seized a knife.

At Warwick Crown Court, 21-year-old Abdulrahman, 21, of Hornsey Close, Coventry was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. He was also found guilty of possession of a knife in a public place.

As well as the jail term, he was banned from driving for 20 months.

PC Stead said: “The manner of the driving displayed by Abdulrahman shows why we proactively police our roads.

“His driving put other road users and pedestrians at risk and he belongs behind bars.”
