AN EMOTIONAL tribute has been paid by the daughter of a Ryton grandad who died after he was hit by a car on the M45, as police continue to appeal for witnesses.
Ricky Stewart, 65, of Ryton-on-Dunsmore, died in hospital on December 22 following the incident, which took place on the motorway between Dunchurch and Kilsby in Northamptonshire at 7.45pm on November 29.
After the 65-year-old’s Subaru Outback left the the eastbound carriageway and hit the verge, he got out of his car and was then hit by a black Mercedes E220 travelling on the westbound carriageway. He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry but succumbed to his injuries just over three weeks later.
His daughter Naomie Stewart has now released a tribute and photograph of her father via Northamptonshire Police.
She said: “My dad Ricky will be forever in my heart. He was my hero. His life, his influence, his energy is inextricably linked to mine and I take comfort in that.
“My dad enjoyed fishing, he loved to listen to music, dance around and make people laugh.
“He was a doting grandad to Mason and Dannii and we will forever miss him.”
Detectives from Northamptonshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to appeal for witnesses. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information or dash cam footage, is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615.
