Dedicated volunteer named Mental Health Star

DEDICATED Sue Oldham is officially a star.

Sue has been named Warwickshire’s Mental Health Star at the first Thrive Mental Health Commission Awards – which is run by the West Midlands Combined Authority and aims to improve health and wellbeing across the region.

Sue helps with the Pathway programme at St Mary’s Church in Leamington, mentoring people with mental health challenges, addictions and chaotic lifestyles.

Judges say she won due to her tireless work to make the scheme a success, empowering others to improve their lives and that she inspires others in the community.

Sue said: “This is completely unexpected and I’m amazed but really pleased. It will help our project – Pathway – and that’s what I’m most excited about.

“Pathway gives people two mentors who stick with them through thick and thin for a year and help them make better decisions and achieve their goals.”
