Doctor who swapped scrubs for decks praised by health secretary

A DOCTOR who ditched his scrubs for decks and uses music to lift colleagues’ spirits has been praised by health secretary Matt Hancock.

Since March frontline doctor and former Warwick School head boy Kishan Bodalia has been recording his ‘NHSessions’ sets in his scrubs in a bid to lift the spirits of his colleagues.

When he posted the first video on social media the 26-year-old from Coventry said morale was at an all-time low.

But it was a hit overnight, and has since gained support of celebrities who choose their ‘track of the day’.

These include DJs Example, Danny Howard, MistaJam and Jonas Blue.

And the latest person to choose a song was the health secretary, who selected ‘Non-Stop’ from Broadway musical ‘Hamilton’.

He also appeared on the show to say: “I want to say a massive thank you to NHSessions, a brilliant initiative set up by frontline NHS doctor DJ Bodalia.”

Kishan – who is currently working on the intensive care ward at a Birmingham hospital – said: “I am so flattered to hear the health secretary is a fan and that the project has received such recognition. I set up NHSessions during the first lockdown to lift the spirits of my NHS colleagues and the nation as a whole. I just want to help everyone dance, exercise, and above all, smile.

“I feel overwhelmed by the support and want to keep sharing amazing music with as many people as possible.

“My music has been used by patients in ITU to motivate them during their rehabilitation. Music has saved me during the darkest times and I want to keep spreading these good vibes.”
