Ex-gangster turned author to headline fund-raiser in aid of Leamington addiction charity

AN EX-GANGSTER turned author will headline a charity afternoon in support of a local addiction charity.

An Afternoon with Dave Courtney will raise money for New Chapters, a Leamington-based drug and alcohol residential facility.

Dave, a self-proclaimed former gangster who has become an author and celebrity, will provide insights into his life and host a Q&A session.

A raffle and auction will offer prizes from local businesses including facials, Nitrous Competitions vouchers, a year’s gym pass, restaurant vouchers, a signed Coventry City shirt and more.

Bad Boy Burgers will provide food, and DJ Paul Gavin will play a set in the evening.

Host Lucy Ward said: “We are trying to make a small difference in our area in regards to the disease of addiction, which not only affects our area but also has detrimental effects on families of addicts.

“New Chapters is a registered charity which aims to provide recovery from addiction for everyone that needs it in Leamington and the surrounding area, regardless of what they can afford to pay.

“The charity needs to raise £100,000 in the first year to provide quality, long term support so that people can recover from addiction.”

An Afternoon with Dave Courtney takes place at The Fusilier in Leamington on Sunday February 12, starting at 3pm (doors 2pm).

Tickets costing £15 each (over 16s only) are available via Facebook (@TheFusilierLeamington) or by calling 07546 171535.
