Extra support to get homeless off streets

Leamington Editorial 2nd Dec, 2016   0

ROUGH sleepers will be given a hand to help them off the streets.

Warwick District Council is working with Warwickshire P3 ‘social inclusion charity’ to find and support anyone who is sleeping rough in the area.

Workers from the charity and district council rangers have been carrying out joint patrols to find homeless people and help get them secure accommodation.

P3 operations manager Esther Barrett said: “The partnership work we do with the council’s ranger service is invaluable. Our joined up approach enables us to reach out and support more vulnerable people in the local community. Their local knowledge of the open spaces is invaluable allowing us to assertively engage with rough sleepers.”

District council spokesman Coun Dave Shilton said: “P3 working together with our rangers is a great example of partnership working with external agencies and voluntary organisations to keep the district’s parks, open spaces and car parks safe, clean and welcoming to all.”
