PASSENGERS were evacuated after a train caught fire at Warwick Parkway Station this morning.
The rear carriages of the London Midland service began filling with smoke when a running gear underneath the train caught fire just before 8am.
Fire crews and rail staff led people to safety off the platform.
Delays between Leamington and Birmingham Snow Hill are expected for the rest of the morning but all lines have now re-opened.
A National Rail spokesman said: “A broken down train at Warwick Parkway is causing delays of up to 30 minutes to trains between Leamington Spa and Birmingham Snow Hill.
“Chiltern Railways passengers may use CrossCountry, Virgin Trains, London Midland, TFL Rail on all reasonable routes. London Midland passengers may use Chiltern Railways on all reasonable routes. A rail replacement coach is conveying passengers from Hatton via Lapworth and Dorridge.”
