GOOD sports have donated £1,000 to an extra special children’s ward at Warwick Hospital.
The cash has come from the Tracey Thomas Leamington and District Sunday Football League and will help support families and children attending the hospital’s Blossom Suite, a dedicated room for children and young people at the end of their lives.
Based on MacGregor Ward, it provides a quiet, peaceful, and private environment for families to spend precious time together. Designed to ensure the facility is not clinical but more of a comforting and peaceful area, it offers privacy and dignity during these incredibly sad and difficult moments. The suite includes a pull-out bed, blankets and homely touches so parents and children can be together in their final hours without disturbance.
The £1,000 donation will help the hospital further enhance the suite by creating more self-contained facilities for families, including access to food and drink without needing to leave the space. Plans also include additional comforts and the development of a private outdoor garden area, allowing parents to access fresh air and reflect in a peaceful, secluded setting.
The cheque was presented by league secretary, Steve Falp to paediatric clinical sister Fiona, who accepted the donation on behalf of SWFT Charity, the official charity of South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.
League chairman Mark Rowlatt said: “We are delighted to be able to donate this money to such a worthwhile cause. The teams in the league have raised this amount over the season and I’m really pleased that we can help with such an important asset which will be used to give comfort when it’s most needed.”
