Free climbing sessions for youngsters on free school meals in Leamington

Leamington Editorial 19th Dec, 2023   0

CLIMBING sessions for children eligible for free school meals are available at a Leamington leisure centre this Christmas.

As part of the national Holiday Activities and Food programme, Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre – which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Warwick District Council – will host the free climbing sessions, accompanied by free lunches.

The initiative aims to ensure that children from families who are eligible for free school meals can enjoy an active and engaging Christmas break, promoting both physical wellbeing and social interaction.

The Clip ‘N Climb session lasts for an hour and is aimed at children who attend secondary school.

Sessions will take place between 11am and 12pm on Tuesday January 2, Wednesday January 3, Thursday January 4 and Friday January 5.

WDC’s leisure spokesperson Coun Jim Sinnott said: “We are very pleased that Everyone Active is participating in this programme providing local children with a chance to learn something new that can build their confidence during the school holidays. This will be a welcome Christmas gift to families who are struggling during the cost-of-living crisis.”
