Fundraiser makes the jump in aid of Barnardo's

A FEARLESS fundraiser has taken a leap of faith in aid of Barnardo’s.

Helen Keaney, a nursery lead at Barnardo’s Lillington Children’s Centre in Leamington, leapt 13,000ft from a plane to raise money for families who use the service.

The 35-year-old raised £550 which will pay for activities for nursery children.

She said: “The jump was a new challenge for me as I had to remain relaxed in order to go through with it.

“I loved exiting the aeroplane and the freefall, but it was so cold that I was unable to breathe for a short while and there was a scary moment when we plunged through a giant grey cloud.

“I was happy to see the ground, where my family were all waiting for me.

“I’m really grateful for everyone’s support and hope to use the money to arrange a special day-trip for children who attend the nursery.”

Helen’s next fundraising adventure will be a trek along the Great Wall of China next year.
