Heathcote youngsters dig deep at their new allotment

YOUNGSTERS at Heathcote Primary School have been digging deep down on their new allotment.

And the pupils were well-tooled up thanks to a donation from David Wilson Homes.

The housebuilder donated two 45-piece children’s gardening equipment sets for the children to use including, forks, trowels and watering cans.

The school on Vickers Way recently launched its brand new allotment. The children can now look forward to planting and taking care of a range of flowers and vegetables as they continue to learn more about nature and maintain their outdoor space..

Acting Head Cassie Shirley said: “We are so grateful for the kind donation of gardening tools. Gardening is a fantastic way for the children to have hands on experience in our growing world, they gain a valuable insight into key areas such as food production and plant lifecycles.

“By having suitable equipment, the children are able to tend to their newly installed gardens, this will have such a positive impact on their overall wellbeing.”
