Helping Hands keep homeless and vulnerable covered

FOUR-star blankets will be keeping the homeless in Leamington warm this Christmas.

Coombe Abbey Hotel near Coventry has recently upgraded all the bedding in its some 120 rooms.

And rather than throw away the old blankets, they have chosen to donate them to Helping Hands, a charity supporting the homeless and vulnerable in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth.

Lianne Kirkman, project Co-ordinator for Helping Hands Community Charity, said: “This is a really kind gesture and the blankets will be put to very good use.

“We estimate there are around 25 to 30 people living rough in the area and we help in a number of ways including our mobile soup kitchen, sleeping bags and blankets.

“We are totally dependent on people’s generosity and we are really grateful for all the help we receive.”
