Historic church organ wired for sound ahead of theatre stage debut

Leamington Editorial 5th Dec, 2024   0

THE ORGAN at Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church is preparing for its debut on the stage.

The RSC has teamed-up with Spitfire Audio to capture the sound of the historic organ which will features in the new production of Twelfth Night.

To preserve its atmospheric feel, the organ has been meticulously recorded from multiple angles within the church, where Shakespeare himself is buried.

These samples will resonate from the onstage organ, enhanced with cutting-edge digital technology, ensuring the sound resonates with the grandeur of the actual church organ which is believed to predate the Reformation.

Twelfth Night runs at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre until January 18.
