Kenilworth Meningitis survivor shaves her head for charity

Leamington Editorial 23rd Nov, 2022   0

AN EX-Kenilworth School pupil is shaving her head to mark ten years since surviving Meningitis.

Jasmine Ambrose-Brown is having her locks shorn off on Saturday (November 26) to bank cash for Meningitis Now.

Jasmine has set herself the target of raising £1,000 which will help pay for ten meningitis survivors to have coaching through the Meningitis Now Believe and Achieve programme.

But she is also hoping her grand gesture will raise awareness of this terrible infection which nearly took her life a decade ago.

Fortunately, Jasmine was one of the luckier ones and avoided any physical side effects after contracting Meningitis and septicemia.

She went on to train in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at Bird Conservatoire, South East London and it was dancing which really helped her through the early stages of recovery.

However, the hidden aspects of an acquired brain injury through the infection have been very challenging over the past decade. And Jasmine wants to raise awareness of this, alongside the other contributors to poor mental health among young people.
