A SPECIAL Kenilworth advent calendar, aimed at counting down to Christmas whilst counting up the fundraising coffers, goes on sale next week.
Kenilworth Advent Calendar, launched by Kenilworth Rotary Club back in the summer as its latest fundraising initiative, can be ordered from Saturday October 1. And a website to run alongside the project is now also live.
The calendar, like all other advent calendars, has 24 little doors on its face, one for each day of Advent from December 1 to 24. What makes it different is that, behind each door, there is a list of five exciting prizes which will be distributed to lucky winners.
Each calendar bears a unique number and, to find out if they’ve won a prize, the buyer simply checks the dedicated advent calendar website where winning numbers are displayed. These numbers will also be reported on press, radio, social media websites and displayed in Talisman Square.
Local businesses have shown huge support for the enterprise, contributing most of the prizes. And Kenilworth-based Abstract Design, Emmersons Press and LoudLocal Digital Marketing have donated their work so that almost all sales proceeds will go to Kenilworth charities.
The advent calendars cost £5 each and locations where they will be on sale are available on the website at www.kenilworthadventcalendar.co.uk
The website also includes a full list of all 120 prizes.
There are 3,000 calendars to sell.
The website has been designed by Leon Hidderley of LoudLocal.
Leon said :”LoudLocal is very glad to be involved in this project. It was a lot of work with more than a hundred prize donors, each with its own details and logos to download and fit into the site. But the Calendar is a great way to raise money for our local charities and we’re proud to be able to help.”
