Kind donations help vulnerable combat isolation

VULNERABLE and older people could receive a helping hand from well-off residents this winter.

Those with enough money that they do not need the cash are being asked to donate their winter fuel allowance to help combat isolation in the county.

The Heart of England Community Foundation have launched the Surviving Winter Appeal and hope to receive donations to provide lunch clubs, food supplies day trips and companionship for those who cannot leave their homes.

Foundation director Tina Costello said: “For many, winter can present a struggle in which they face a choice between heating and eating. The Surviving Winter appeal goes a long way in supporting those who need it most, there are always more who need our support.

“We are therefore encouraging anyone who is in a strong enough financial position to consider donating to the appeal.”
