Leamington community cafe receives "life-line" donation

A COMMUNITY cafe in Leamington has received a ‘life-line’ donation.

Young People First, a charity based in the Brunswick ward, that provides activities and support to young people and their families has received £23,000 from the Morrisons Foundation to develop the community cafe facility at the charity.

YPF chief officer Jo Squires said: “The donation we have received from the Morrisons Foundation will be transformational to the work we do in our community cafe, and we are incredibly grateful.

“The cafe has grown exponentially in the last few months, with people of all ages attending, and this grant will enable us to purchase well needed toys, food preparation equipment and food supplies to ensure that our regulars attending the café continue to feel welcome, safe, and well fed.

“Living in such difficult times, this cafe has become a life-line to many in our community, and thanks to Morrisons we are able to continue and grow this project.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.
