Leamington student chosen as face of national Rugby campaign

A RUGBY-LOVING student from Leamington is helping encourage players from all walks of life.

Jack Griffin, from Cubbington, who is studying a ‘Ready for Adulthood’ course at Leamington College, was chosen as the face of the national ‘Project Rugby’ campaign.

The project aims to increase participation among 14 to 24-year-olds in under-represented communities and among minorities including ethnic, black, disabled people and those from poor backgrounds.

The 20-year-old Wasps supporter – whose favourite player is All Blacks star Dan Carter – said he was enjoying being part of the campaign.

Wasps spokesman Jordan Young said: “Jack was very shy when we first met him but every time he comes along to a Project Rugby session he seems more confident and his communication has improved immensely.

“He’s the hardest worker we’ve seen so far and his energy and enthusiasm for the game is so infectious. When he comes to a session it’s uplifting and provides an extra bit of motivation for everyone.

“I think everyone can see that Jack is the Project Rugby champion at the Old Leamingtonians site and hopefully will be a star pupil for years to come.”
