Leamington swimmers score new kit thanks to Taylor Wimpey donation

SWIMMERS at a Leamington club have had a stroke of luck with a £500 donation from housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

Leamington Amateur Swimming Club will use the cash to provide new swimming kits for their teams and said it has really boosted the teams’ spirits.

The swimming club helps children to swim through its teaching programme and has a number of successful swimming squads. The club has competed in the National Area League and has also seen success in the Nuneaton and District Junior League after qualifying for the Northern Area final in 2019. The club is staffed by volunteers.

Graham Nash, head coach at the swimming club, said: “As a community club, we are a non-profit organisation so every penny of membership and fees go towards pool hire amongst other things. We are all incredibly thankful to Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation which will go towards purchasing the very much needed new swimming kit.”

While Ben Walker, spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “We are committed to giving something back to the communities in which we build through donations such as this one to Leamington Amateur Swimming Club. It is community clubs like this that bring people together and build community spirit.

“We were delighted to be able to support the club and hope the children feel confident at competitions in their brand new kit.”

Taylor Wimpey Midlands is building new homes nearby to the swimming club in Newbold Comyn, with its latest development, The Asps, set to launch in July.
