A LONG-STANDING Leamington business which has closed after more than 50 years has donated its remaining stock to support charity.
Clothing store Chez Rama opened in Clemens Street in 1971 and was run by the Kanwar brothers Ken, Gian and Randhir, during which it became a fixture of town life.
To mark the end of their trading journey, the brothers, along with their wives Krishna, Renu and Uma, chose to support several charities with their remaining stock.
A significant portion of their clothing has been donated to be sent to Ukraine in an ambulance, in collaboration with Belveder, which arranges and delivers humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Additional donations have been made to Cancer Research, Myton Hospice, Age UK and Action 21. These contributions will support vulnerable individuals both locally and abroad, reflecting the brothers’ commitment to helping others.
Chez Rama has also collaborated with Lighthaus Arts, providing furniture at a greatly reduced cost to support their creative and community-focused initiatives.
And they donated all remaining school uniforms to the respective schools.
Speaking about the decision, Gian said it was time to give something back to the community that had supported them for so many years.
Belveder spokesman Dawid Kozlowski said: “We extend our sincere thanks to Gian, Randhir, Ken, Krishna, Renu and Uma for their generosity and for the positive impact they have made within our community.
“Belveder is proud to have worked with Chez Rama in supporting the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and applauds their dedication to helping those in need.”
