A MAN has died after the van he was driving collided with three lorries on the M40.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 11 (Banbury) and 12 (Gaydon) shortly after 11.15am on Friday (June 5).

Two ambulance crews, an advanced community paramedic, a paramedic area support officer, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended and South Central Ambulance Service attended the scene following the crash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The van was badly damaged. Its driver was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

“His passenger had managed to get out and was sitting on a grass verge when crews arrived. She had pains in her knee, elbow and neck.

“She was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to University Hospital.”

The drivers of the lorries involved were uninjured.
