Monkey business at care home's first birthday celebration

Leamington Editorial 8th May, 2024   0

SQUIRREL monkeys helped celebrate the first birthday of a Leamingtin care home.

Jubilee House, which is part of the Berkley Care Group, welcomed the South American natives as part of the celebrations.

Antonio, 11, and his son Sharky, three, climbed onto the shoulders – and heads – of residents and posed for photos to mark the occasion.

The monkeys, known for their impressive vocal range of over 50 sounds, are a part of a group of nine that reside in Heythrop Zoological Gardens.

Alongside the monkeys’ visit, Jubilee House also honoured its one year anniversary by cutting the ribbon on a newly built greenhouse, which will allow residents to plant their own flowers and vegetables to maintain throughout the year.

General manager Philippa Cook said: “Celebrating Jubilee House’s first birthday is a moment of great pride for all of us. We can’t believe we have made it to a year already! The past year has been an incredible journey, filled with many challenges and many great rewards.

“Having a delightful visit from Antonio and Sharky’s visit was a wonderful way to celebrate. It was truly heartwarming to see the laughter and excitement brought by our furry guests.”
