HEALTHCARE supporters born over the last 70 years have teamed up to wish the NHS a happy birthday.
Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western organised a group photo which saw one person represent each year since the National Health Service was formed in 1948.
Along with the group snap on the steps of Leamington Town Hall, there was also a ‘Happy Birthday’ sing-along and the chance to sign a card to the NHS.
Mr Western said: “It was wonderful to see each year of the life of the NHS represented by a constituent born in that year.
“The NHS is one of our greatest institutions and one which we all rely on at some point in our lives.
“The principle of healthcare free at the point of use based on need, not wealth, I believe is one of the country’s greatest achievements.
“We all look forward to the next 70 years of the NHS.”
