Musicians flock to Warwick School for top festival

MUSICIANS from across the country came together at Warwick School for the National Concert Band Festival (NCBF) finals.

The NCBF is open to all ages and all standards and has been running for over 30 years and attracts over 120 bands made up of 5,000 players aged eight to 80.

Five bands from Warwick School made it into the final – Foundation Wind Orchestra which also features King’s High School pupils, Jazz Lab, The Super Tonics, Little Big Band and Big Band – and picked up two platinum and three gold awards respectively.

International conductor and former NCBF chair, Geoffrey Brand, said: “This festival is the life-blood of bands in the UK and produces more quality performances every year – it allows musicians of all ages to pace one another on the road to excellence.”
